COMMUNITY WATCH : Several meetings were held during November and December, at various locations throughout the Town, and most were well attended. Additional meetings are planned for January and beyond, and we encourage all Town of Benson residents to attend, and learn ways of protecting their property, and maintaining the security of their neighborhoods.

RBC Bank Robbery - On Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at approximately 9:10 AM, an unknown Black Male suspect entered the RBC Bank located on South Wall Street, presented a note, and was given an undisclosed amount of money, before leaving the business on foot. The Benson Police Department is currently investigating this incident, with assistance from the NC State Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The surveillance photos below are from the RBC Robbery on 12/14, and the related KS Bank Robbery that occurred on 12-16-2010.

Anyone with information regarding these two incidents, or the identity of the suspect, is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency immediately, or dial 911.
Information Requested - On August 13, 2010, a local business and subsequently a local bank were defrauded of over $10,000, using a Counterfeit Check scheme. Approximately 35 Hispanic Males entered the bank, and a total of 28 counterfeit checks were presented, and cashed. Surveillance photos were obtained from the bank, and may be viewed by clicking this link. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
