January 30, 2007

On January 25, 2007, at approximately 11:30 PM, an Armed Robbery occurred at the T-Mart Express, located at 100 South Wall Street in Benson. Two Black Male subjects entered the business, produced a handgun, and demanded money from the registers. They subsequently left with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects were described as being approximately 16 to 25 years of age, wearing Blue Jackets with Fur Trimmed Hoods. The suspects had in their possession a Black and Carolina Blue Backpack. At least one subject was armed with a Black in Color Handgun. One suspect was wearing Red in Color Gloves of some kind.

The investigation into this incident, conducted by Det. Jimmy Thrower, with assistance from Chief Kenneth Edwards and Lt. Greg Percy, revealed that there was a loose connection to the string of Armed Robberies that have occurred in Dunn, Benson, Coats, and Sanford over the last month. Both of the suspects arrested in this incident are related (Cousins) to the subjects arrested by Sanford PD on 1-27-2007, and charged by multiple agencies with multiple counts of Armed Robbery.

Brandon Keith Fox (DOB 4-16-1987), of Erwin, and Roosevelt Hampton Crosby (DOB 11-20-1990), of Dunn, were arrested around 10:00 PM on 1-29-2007 by Det. Thrower, and subsequently placed in the Johnston County Jail under a $60,000 Secured Bond each. Both suspects were charged with one count of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and one count of Second Degree Kidnapping.

Chief Edwards stated, "We had two Armed Robberies within 24 hours, and started the investigations with nothing but descriptions of the suspects. We made arrests in both cases within 96 hours though. My investigators worked long hours over the weekend to solve these crimes, and the other agencies involved, especially the Sanford Police Department, contributed a great deal of assistance to them. I would like to personally thank all the agencies and investigators involved, and commend them for their professionalism, and dedication."

For more information regarding this incident, please contact Chief Edwards at 919-894-2091. Photos of both Fox and Crosby are available from the Johnston County Jail.
