On May 9th, 2004, at approximately 9:45 PM, a "stabbing" occurred at a residence on West Harnett Street in Benson. The subsequent investigation into this incident, led by Lt. Greg Percy, with the assistance of Sgt. William Brown, his squad members, and other officers of the department, has resulted in the identification and arrest of a suspect, Bertha Mae Chrisp, on one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
Ms. Chrisp has been transported to the Johnston County Jail in Smithfield, where she will be held on a $50,000 Secured Bond. Her First Appearance is set for 5-12-2004 in Smithfield.
The victim, Ronnie Dupree Anderson, is still listed in Serious but Stable Condition at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. He is expected to survive and recover from his injuries though.
