Over the course of the last month, the Benson Police Department began investigating what was obviously "Gang Related Tagging," associated with the street gangs known as the "CRIPS" and the "BLOODS." Several suspects were interviewed, and the investigation into these incidents revealed additional "Gang Related" events, far more serious than Vandalism, that unfolded between April 29, 2006 and May 15, 2006.
On April 29, 2006, a male subject entered Benson Housing Authority property, and was attacked and robbed by three assailants. Pursuant to the on-going investigation, two Arrest Warrants and one Juvenile Petition were issued on May 17, 2006 for the subjects below:

McAllister was arrested on May 17, 2006, and was given a $25,000 Secured Bond. Crenshaw was arrested on May 17, 2006, and was given a $40,000 Secured Bond. Juvenile 1 was advised of the filing of the Juvenile Petition on May 17, 2006.
On May 13, 2006, three male subjects were assaulted and robbed by seven assailants at the Nance Ballfields in Benson. Several items of property, valued at approximately $300, were taken during the robbery. Pursuant to the on-going investigation, four Arrest Warrants and three Juvenile Petitions were issued on May 17, 2006, for the subjects below:

Booker was arrested on May 17, 2006, and was given a $51,000 Secured Bond. Crenshaw was arrested on May 17, 2006, and was given a $120,000 Secured Bond. Juvenile 1, Juvenile 2, and Juvenile 3 were advised of the filing of the Juvenile Petitions on May 17, 2006. As of today's date, Basker and Huffman had not been located and served, so their Arrest Warrants remain on file.
Chief Kenneth Edwards stated, "The citizens of Benson have made it clear to us, that they do not condone, and will not accept gang activity in their town, and with the culmination of this investigation, and the 18 counts filed against them, I hope that these "so-called" gang members will get that message too."

UPDATE: Kendall Montrell Basker was arrested on 5-19-2006, and was placed in the Johnston County Jail under a $50,000 Secured Bond. Brandon Alex Huffman was arrested on 5-19-2006, and was placed in the Johnston County Jail under a $120,000 Secured Bond.
