August 18, 2005

After many months of research and hard work, the Benson Police Department is proud to announce the completion of their website project. The website, titled "BPD Online," has actually been available on the Internet since 2001, but the new version has been totally redesigned and updated. It is more user friendly, more detailed, and contains a great deal more information about the department, its programs, and its officers.

The new "BPD Online" was designed and constructed by Lieutenant Greg Percy, with input from the Police Department employees. He will be responsible for periodically updating the site, to provide the most current information to the public. Details about the department's activities, and information concerning events in town are available on the website, and should help to answer most questions. Any comments or suggestions concerning the website should be directed to Lt. Percy, or Chief Kenneth Edwards.

As a result of the project, it became necessary to purchase a domain name and dedicated web space to host the website. This was made possible by a donation from a local business, the Mule City Grill, and Chief Edwards would like to recognize, and also thank the owner and employees of Mule City Grill for their donation.

All employees of the Police Department now have email addresses, and they are available on the website. In addition, specific addresses have also been set up to obtain information from the department (info@bensonpd.org), and provide anonymous information about crimes (crimeline@bensonpd.org). The public is encouraged to use the email addresses as an alternate means of communication, as the officers can check their email from their MDTs, as well as the computers at the Police Department.

"BPD Online" is available to the public at http://www.bensonpd.org . For additional information concerning the website, please contact Lieutenant Greg Percy, or Chief Kenneth Edwards at the Police Department.
